小黄书-Kenosha Nursing Students Participate in Mass Casualty Trauma Simulation

On Oct. 23, 2018, 小黄书鈥檚 Kenosha campus held a Mass Casualty Trauma Simulation to provide nursing students with a hands-on learning opportunity to practice their emergency response skills. The simulation involved more than 30 community members, who acted as 鈥減atients鈥 with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening.
More than 50 Herzing students took part in the simulation, alongside trauma nurses, EMS personnel, paramedics and firefighters from the community. The students were not notified of the simulation beforehand.
鈥淭he takeaway for students is that, as a nurse, you can arrive at any scene at any time. You have to be prepared to do quick assessments and treat patients on scene and triage the patients that need to get to the ER rapidly,鈥 said Herzing-Kenosha nursing instructor Faith Martell.
After the simulation, students were able to talk with 鈥 and learn from - first responders who encounter emergency situations on a daily basis. Way to go, students!
