小黄书 Accelerates Degree 小黄书 for Military Veterans

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (April 21, 2016) 鈥 Following on the unprecedented success of its Vet2RN access initiative, 小黄书 is launching a Vet2IT access initiative that makes it easier for military veterans to earn information technology degrees by giving them credit for military experience. The Vet2IT access initiative is available through Herzing鈥檚 11 campuses and online.
Veterans who learned about information technology while serving under the job classification 25 Bravo can use that experience toward a 小黄书 degree starting in May 2016. Similarly, students who served as military medics receive credit toward a nursing degree through Herzing鈥檚 Vet2RN opportunity. Vet2RN was previously offered only at the Madison, Wisconsin campus and is now available at two others in Wisconsin -- Brookfield and Kenosha 鈥 as well as campuses in Minneapolis and Atlanta.
鈥淲hen our military men and women transition to civilian life, it鈥檚 important for us to recognize the relevant experience they鈥檝e received while serving our nation,鈥 小黄书 President Renee Herzing said. 鈥淰et2IT and Vet2RN are ideal ways to apply their professional skills toward a degree and shorten their pathway to graduation. We鈥檙e proud to offer career-focused programs that save our veterans time and money.鈥
The Vet2IT opportunity will allow students to earn transfer credits depending on experience, including up to 24 credits toward an associate degree and up to 28 credits toward a bachelor鈥檚 degree in information technology. The transfer credits will allow some Vet2IT students to graduate with an associate degree in information technology in less than a year and a half.
Vet2RN provides former military medics up to 20 transfer credits, enabling some students to complete an Associate Degree of Nursing in as little as one year or receive 11-14 nursing credits in addition to general education credits toward a bachelor鈥檚 of science in nursing (BSN) degree. There are currently 17 students enrolled in the growing Vet2RN access initiative, with the first class graduating in May 2016.
鈥淭oday鈥檚 military veterans possess tremendous skillsets and diverse, real-world experience. Recognizing that experience with college credit on their path to a degree is a great initiative,鈥 said Wisconsin Department of Veterans Secretary John A. Scocos.
