I work for a healthcare organization that partnered with Herzing, making it easier for employees like me to continue their education and earn a degree. I decided to take advantage of this benefit and attend Herzing’s Surgical Technology program. After many years in healthcare and having undergone my own surgeries, I had a deep interest in this field. It felt like the perfect fit!

Balancing a full-time job, school and being a mom was a challenge, but I made time for myself and everything else in my life, and it ultimately all came together. Herzing was always there to help whenever I needed it.

For example, my program instructor, Sheri Collins-Perez, was an incredible support throughout my clinical experience. I truly don’t think I could have made it through without her!

I’m excited to share that I was offered a position at the hospital where I’ve worked for 10 years. I’m now a Surgical Technologist on the Neuro/ENT team.

My advice: Be patient with yourself and don’t get discouraged. Always ask for help—no question is a bad or stupid one. You’re here to learn!
